For years Sam Moore was best known for his work with the stirring "soul" duo Sam & Dave. The rapid-fire style built on the call and response of gospel, fashioned by Sam Moore while the trademarkable voice of the duo, sent several songs climbing up both the Pop and R&B charts including "Hold On I'm Comin", "I Thank You", "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby", "Soul Sister, Brown Sugar'', "Wrap It Up" and "Soul Man" (which Sam Moore later re-cut with, of all people, Lou Reed for the soundtrack of the Steven Tisch movie of the same name).

Sam & Dave, who played themselves in the Paul Simon movie, "One Trick Pony", served as the inspiration for the parody by Belushi and Aykroyd of The Blues Brothers.

Today, having earned his own legs, Sam Moore has tremendous love and respect for what he created when he was "the voice" of the duo.

Sam Moore continues to perform and tour always scoring critical acclaim for his work. Headlining the lst Annual Newport Rhythm & Blues Festival earlier this summer with Bonnie Raitt and Don Henley, the reviewers called him "a blast-furnace of soul".

Additionally Sam Moore has acted in "Tapeheads" with Tim Robbins and John Cusack, guest cameo in the BBC's production of the Tales of the City, performed at George Bush's Inaugural, The Atlantic 40th, Nashville Salutes the Ryman, The Apollo Theater Hall of Fame, The Elvis Tribute, The Bush Bash and he's hosted the R&B Foundation's Pioneer Awards.

Sam Moore was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. Moore was asked to be one of the headliners for the HBO September 2, 1995 "Special" Live from Cleveland to celebrate the opening of the Hall of Fame. The producers wanted his participation so much that they decided to charter a Lear Jet to bring Sam Moore back to Cleveland to perform in that event. His performance earned a review and admonishment to the industry and the public from USA Today's Edna Gunderson when she called Sam Moore "soul's under appreciated titan"!

Other artists have wanted to duet with the duo master. Annie Lennox, Don Henley, Elvis Costello, Phil Collins, Bonnie Raitt, John Fogerty, Travis Tritt and Bruce Springsteen have all gotten the opportunity to perform or record with Sam Moore.

Another collaboration, with Conway Twitty rode high on the country and pop charts. "Rainy Night in Georgia" recorded for Rhythm Country and Blues was to be Twitty's last recording. Receiving tremendous critically acclaim the song earned Sam and Conway nominations for several prestigious awards including two (2) Country Music Association CMA's, a TNN Music City News Award and an ACM.

Plans for the future include recording, touring, personal and television and movie appearances. Sam Moore and his wife Joyce are also the co-chair persons of a 5 Million Dollar fund raising effort to name the new Oncological Center at Norris/USC Cancer Center in Los Angeles after their dear friend, the late Mary Wells.
