Early on, Styx's music reflected such then-current prog rockers as Emerson Lake & Palmer and the Moody Blues, as evidenced by such releases as 1972's self-titled debut, 73's 'Styx II,' 74's 'The Serpent is Rising,' and 75's 'Man of Miracles.' 'Styx II' was certified gold.


1976's 'Crystal Ball,' 77's 'The Grand Illusion,' 78's 'Pieces of Eight,' and 79's 'Cornerstone'), each charted high. Radio standards like 'Come Sail Away,' 'Renegade,' 'Blue Collar Man,' 'Fooling Yourself,' and the power ballad 'Babe' all come from these albums.


Styx released 'Paradise Theater' in 1981 and the biggest hit of their career, (selling over 3 million copies in 3 short years.


1983's sci-fi based 'Kilroy was Here' gave Styx one of its most enduring hits in "Mr. Roboto." Styx then released the live album, 'Caught in the Act,' in 1984, before Styx went on hiatus, and the majority of its members pursued solo projects throughout the remainder of the decade.


Styx released a new studio album in 1990 titled Edge of the Century, with the hit power ballad, 'Show Me the Way.'


In 1999, Styx released Brave New World and Styx World: Live 2001, in 2001. Later that year Styx appeared on an episode of VH1's 'Behind the Music.'


Styx released Cyclorama in February 2003. It also featured guest appearances from John Waite, Brian Wilson, and actor Billy Bob Thornton. Styx released Big Bang Theory in 2005, and reached #46, Styx's highest chart position on Billboard's Top 200 in 14 years.


To date, Styx has sold over 17million records in the United States alone. Styx continues to tour and play private dates.
