The Doobie Brothers have long been known for their reliable good time music and easy, breezy California pop appeal.

To an entire gnereation of fans, the Doobie Brothers are best remembered for a guest appearance they did on the popular sitcon "What's Happenin'?" In the episode, Roger and Rerun try to record the concert via illegal taping. The show is a classic.


The Doobie Brothers first gained popular momentum, gigging around sothern California. It wasn't until the Doobie Brothers second album that the band found success. On the strength of songs like "Listen to the Music" and "Jesus Is Just Alright," Toulouse Street marked the group's first taste of the good stuff. The Doobie's third album, released in 1973, The Captain and Me, offered the Top Ten hits "Long Train Runnin'" and "China Grove."


The Doobie's finally had number 1 hit song on their fourth album, 1974's What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits. "Black Water," was swampy, dreamy tune that captyured America's hearts and minds.


For 1975's Stampede, the Doobie Brothers stole couple of Steely Dan's main players - guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and vocalist/ keyboardist Michael McDonald. The pair's arrival meant a new, more urban sound for the countrified, hippified Doobies.


Takin' It to the Streets, landed in 1976 and quickly became a platinum seller and later that year, released The Best of the Doobies. Livin' on the Fault Line dropped in 1977.


In 1980, the Dobbie Brothers released One Step Closer , a platinum album with the Top Ten hit "Real Love."


In 1987, after a brief break-up, the Doobie Brothers reunited after a one-off concert at the Hollywood Bowl and hit the road again.


The Doobie Brothers' 1989 reunion album, Cycles, acheived gold status and produced the Top Ten hit "The Doctor."


The Doobie Brothers continue to tour and play live around the globe.
