To many, Travis Tritt is bit of a conundrum. He was of the finest performers in contemporary country today, yet he plays like an old Southern blues rock aficionado. Is he a country craftsman or goodtime rocker in the vein of Lynyrd Skynyrd?
Travis Tritt exploded onto the country scene in 1990, when he released his debut album, Country Club. Before the album hit store shelves, though, Travis Tritt had already charted with in Billboard's Country Top Ten with the hit single, "Country Club." Three more songs from Travis Tritt's debut release rocketed into the Top Ten: "Help Me Hold On," "I'm Gonna Be Somebody," and "Put Some Drive in Your Country," which was the first song to tip listeners off to Tritt's passion for rock music.
Travis Tritt returned in 1991 with his sophomore release, It's All About to Change. Despite Tritt's fence sitting on the whole country vs. rock thing, the album sold millions and made Travis Tritt a bona fide superstar.
A year later, Travis Tritt returned with T-r-o-u-b-l-e, which offered the number one single, "Can I Trust You With My Heart."
In 1994, Travis Tritt issued Ten Feet Tall & Bulletproof, which spawned the number one single "Foolish Pride," and achieved platinum sales status. A year later, Tritt's Greatest Hits: From the Beginning also sold over a million copies and solidified Tritt's emergence as one of country's most beloved performers. Restless Kind was released in 1996, while No More Looking Over My Shoulder landed in 1998. In 2000, Travis Tritt released Down the Road I Go.
