Attending Fordham University on a music scholarship, Faith Evans’ introduction to the music industry came as she sang backup and wrote songs for artists like Hi-Five, Pebbles, Al B. Sure!, Usher, Christopher Williams and Mary J. Blige, through whom she met producer/impresario Sean “Puffy” Combs, who signed her to his Bad Boy label.
In 1995, Evans released her debut album, “Faith”, which went platinum on the strength of the hit R&B singles, “You Used To Love Me” and “Soon As I Get Home”. Later that same year, she guested with fellow Bad Boy artist Notorious B.I.G. on the remix of the smash single “One More Chance”. Evans continued her behind-the-scenes work, performing and writing for Color Me Badd and LSG. After his untimely death, Evans was prominently featured on the Notorious B.I.G. tribute single “I'll Be Missing You” which became one of the year's biggest hits.
Evans' second full-length effort, “Keep the Faith”, followed in 1998 and included several R&B hits, among them “Love Like This”, “All Night Long”, and the Babyface-produced R&B number one “Never Gonna Let You Go”. She worked with Aaron Hall, Tevin Campbell, DMX, and Ray Charles, among others
In 2001, Evans released her third album, “Faithfully”, an uptempo record that received her strongest reviews to date, and produced the hit singles “You Gets No Love”, “I Love You”, and her duet with Carl Thomas, “Can't Believe”, which was nominated for a Grammy.
Evans recorded “The First Lady” in 2005 for Capitol Records.
