This 21-year-old songstress grew up in Oakland, California, and wasn’t even a teenager when she convinced then-superstar MC Hammer to give her a chance to record with the rap star. Keyshia also later recorded with Tony Toni Tone's Dwayne Wiggins, and later, Keyshia worked with Ruff Ryders’ Eve on her debut single, "Never", which was included on the “Barbershop 2” soundtrack.
After catching the ear of A&M Records President Ron Fair, Fair immediately signed Keyshia to her first solo recording deal. For her first album, “The Way It Is”, Keyshia has collaborated with Mya, Hip Hop superstar Kanye West, and Producer/Songwriter DaRon of R&B group 112. Keyshia’s best-selling debut features the hits “I Changed My Mind”, “I Should've Cheated” and “Love”.
