Alanis Morissette, a Canadian-American singer, songwriter, and musician, rose to prominence in the 1990s. Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Morissette's early start as a child actress on the children's television program You Can't Do That on Television laid the groundwork for her future success.

Morissette's early musical efforts included two dance-pop albums released in Canada: Alanis (1991) and Now Is the Time (1992). After relocating to Los Angeles, she shifted her musical direction.

Her breakthrough album, Jagged Little Pill (1995), gained critical acclaim and widespread commercial success. Morissette has sold over 75 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists globally. She has received multiple awards, including Grammy Awards, Juno Awards, and a Brit Award. Her work has appeared on various "all-time" lists, and she is regarded as a significant figure in alternative rock.

Morissette's studio albums have consistently performed well on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and she holds the record for the most number ones on the weekly Billboard Alternative Songs chart among female soloists. Her singles have reached the top 40 in major charts worldwide.

In the recent years, Morissette released the albums, Such Pretty Forks in the Road (2020) and The Storm Before the Calm (2022). She has toured extensively, including a tour for the 25th anniversary of Jagged Little Pill, which extended into 2023. Morissette has announced plans to begin recording a new album in 2024, with a supporting tour in the United States.
