The Bangles, a renowned pop-rock band, have undergone various name changes throughout their career, including The Colors, The Bangs, and The Supersonic Bangs, before settling on their iconic name in 1981. The group, consisting of sisters Debbi and Vicki Peterson, singer/guitarist Susanna Hoffs, and later Michael Steele, was born from Los Angeles' Paisley Underground scene.

Their debut album, "All Over the Place," in 1984, was followed by the big-breakthrough album "Different Light" in 1985, which catapulted the group to fame with hits like "Manic Monday" and "Walk Like an Egyptian." A cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade of Winter" on the "Less Than Zero" soundtrack also rose to number one. Their subsequent album, "Everything," released in 1988, featured the hit single "Eternal Flame," solidifying the Bangles' status as one of the best-selling groups of the 1980s.

After disbanding in 1989, the Bangles reunited in 2000, announcing new music and tour dates. That year, they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Since then, the original lineup has continued to perform and record, touring extensively from 2008 to 2015 and releasing the album "Sweetheart of the Sun" in 2011.

In 2006, the Bangles reunited to perform on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve," and later on New Year's Eve in 2013, to perform "Eternal Flame" in Times Square. Their latest CD, "Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bangles!" (2017), is a comprehensive collection of their hits, live recordings, and demos.

Throughout their career, the Bangles have demonstrated their enduring appeal, blending catchy melodies with distinctive vocals and a dash of quirky charm.
