Micky Dolenz, born George Michael Dolenz Jr. on March 8, 1945, is an American musician and actor best known as the drummer and one of the primary vocalists for the pop rock band The Monkees. Dolenz began his career in the entertainment industry at a young age, starring in the children’s television series Circus Boy when he was just eleven, where he honed his skills in singing and performing. His early musical journey involved playing guitar and performing with various local bands in Los Angeles before he was eventually selected to join The Monkees.

The audition process for The Monkees attracted hundreds of hopefuls, but only four—Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, Davy Jones, and Dolenz—were chosen to form the iconic band.
