Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel, known simply as Seal, was born on February 19, 1963, to Brazilian and Nigerian parents and raised in England. He initially pursued a degree in engineering but soon found himself drawn to music. His journey into the music scene began in local bars and clubs, where he showcased his talent. During the 1980s, Seal became a member of Push, an English funk band, and later joined a blues band while touring in Asia. Following his adventures in India, he returned to England with a wealth of experience that would shape his career.

Upon his return, Seal crossed paths with techno producer Adamski, who hired him to write the lyrics for the hit single "Killer." Released in 1990, the song skyrocketed to number one on the charts, laying the groundwork for Seal's future success. This led to a solo contract, resulting in the release of his debut album, Seal, in 1991. The album was met with critical acclaim, and the single “Crazy” further solidified his presence in the music industry, reaching the top of the charts and propelling the album to number twenty-four.

Seal's career took another significant leap with the release of his second self-titled album in 1994. Although it began with moderate success, it gained immense popularity thanks to the inclusion of the iconic single "Kiss From a Rose," which was featured on the Batman Forever soundtrack. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent an impressive forty-five weeks on the adult contemporary charts, revitalizing not only Seal’s second album but also boosting sales of his debut album.

Following this success, Seal continued to release notable albums, including Human Being (1998) and Seal IV (2003). His compilation album, Best: 1991-2004, was released in 2004, followed by the CD/DVD combination One Night to Remember in 2005. Seal's 2007 album System marked a shift to a more dance-oriented sound, featuring the single "Amazing," which was nominated for "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance" at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.

Seal's discography further expanded with the releases of Soul (2008), Commitment (2010), Soul 2 (2011), 7 (2015), and most recently, Standards in 2017. His contributions to music have earned him multiple accolades, including three Brit Awards, four Grammy Awards, and an MTV Video Music Award. By October 2011, he had sold over 20 million albums and singles.

In addition to his musical accomplishments, Seal transitioned to television, serving as a coach on The Voice during its Australian seasons in 2012 and 2013, and returning for the 2017 season. He also showcased his talents in Tyler Perry’s television film, The Passion, which aired on FOX in 2016. With a career marked by both artistic innovation and commercial success, Seal remains a significant force in the music industry, beloved by fans around the world.
