Simply Red is an English soul and pop band formed in Manchester in 1985 by founding members Elliot Rashman and Mick Hucknall. The duo quickly expanded their lineup by enlisting session musicians David Fryman, Tony Bowers, Fritz McIntyre, Tim Kellett, and Chris Jones. After signing with Elektra Records, Simply Red made their mark with the debut single “Money’s Too Tight (To Mention),” which received critical acclaim and commercial success, setting the stage for their future endeavors.

In the same year, 1985, the band released their debut album, *Picture Book*. While the album initially launched several singles, many did not achieve significant chart success until Simply Red experienced a breakthrough with the release of “Holding Back the Years.” This poignant ballad catapulted the band to international fame, reaching the top five on charts in the United States, the UK, the Netherlands, and Ireland. Several of these albums reached the number one position on the UK Albums Chart, with *Stars* becoming one of the best-selling albums in the United Kingdom. The group also released a number of chart-topping hits, such as “The Right Thing,” “If You Don’t Know Me by Now,” “Fairground,” and “Sunrise,” among many others.

Simply Red’s success extended beyond the UK, as they achieved Billboard Hot 100 number one hits in the US with “Holding Back the Years” and “If You Don’t Know Me by Now.” The band received numerous accolades throughout their career, including two Brit Awards for Best British Group in 1992 and 1993, and Grammy Award nominations, including one for Best New Artist. Their rendition of “If You Don’t Know Me by Now” won a Grammy for Best R&B Song, showcasing their profound impact on the music industry.

Despite disbanding in 2010, Simply Red announced a reunion tour for 2015, much to the excitement of their dedicated fanbase. The reunion marked a new chapter in the band's story as they prepared to share their enduring legacy of music with audiences once again. They anticipated announcing specific dates and locations for the tour, which was expected to take place during the summer or fall of that year.
